OTC Enhancement

We believe one of our lead peptides offers significant advantages for skin care companies in the over-the-counter acne treatment market. Our proprietary peptide may be formulated into products with certain over-the-counter anti-acne ingredients for improvement in blemish-clearing benefits. The skin care benefits of this peptide derive from its ability to bind to a pro-inflammatory substance on the cell wall of the acne-causing bacteria. This pro-inflammatory substance is known to cause much of the redness associated with acne breakouts but, when bound to our peptide, is rendered inactive. Laboratory and clinical testing confirm the additional treatment benefits and higher level of consumer satisfaction associated with formulations that contain our peptide.

OLIGOPEPTIDE-10

Oligopeptide-10 has potent activity against Propionibacterium acnes causing rapid cell death. Oligopeptide-10 binds to negatively charged surface elements (lipoteichoic acids) of bacteria enabling access to its primary target, the cytoplasmic membrane. Disruption of this membrane causes a lethal osmotic imbalance within the bacteria. Due to this unique mechanical mechanism of action bacteria have a very low probability of becoming resistant and bacteria resistant to all other antibiotics remain susceptible to Oligopeptide-10. In addition, Oligopeptide-10 neutralizes pro-inflammatory bacterial components, reducing redness. In independent studies Oligopeptide-10 has been shown to be non-cytotoxic, non-mutagenic, non-irritating and non-sensitizing. (Data on file)
